Paul Alan Ruben’s debut short story collection, Terms of Engagement: Stories of the Father and Son, was published by Larkin Books. Three of the collection’s stories were previously published: “The Underdog,” (Pennsylvania English/35); “Father, Son and the Holy Obit,” (Pif Magazine); “A Minor Adjustment,” (Connotation Press).

Non-fiction publications range from a college textbook, Public Speaking/Public Thinking (co-authored with Anthony Millilli), to various print and online publications, including The Washington Post, Dadcentric.com, The Good Men Project, Fatherly, and AudioFile Magazine.

Paul’s latest novel LIKE👍 is very recently completed.

Paul has produced and directed numerous award-winning audio programs for every major American publisher.  He has won two Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word: Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, by Al Franken; and Always Looking Up, by Michael J. Fox. Paul also teaches storytelling to emerging and professional narrators across the country. His audiobook narrator's blog has provided him a platform for a national following.

​Born in Queens, N.Y., Paul holds a BA in Theatre from Yankton College (South Dakota), an MA in Theatre from Bowling Green State University (Ohio), and an MFA in Fiction from Spalding University (Louisville, KY). His wife, Paula, is an accomplished actress and audiobook director. His son, Brandon, (Fordham University School of Law, magna cum laude/2016) clerked for D.C. circuit Appellate Judge Robert L. Wilkins in 2018. Brandon is currently a Maryland public defender. He lives with his wife, Lianna Gomori-Ruben (Urban Trees Senior Program Officer/Chesapeake Bay Trust) and their two children, Miriam 'Miri' and Rosalie 'Rosie.'
